"Min
Ba'd"
Min Ba'd, Wissam Murad's first solo CD, was
released by Sabreen Association for Artistic
Development. The CD is a compilation of songs and
musical pieces composed by Murad to lyrics of the late
Egyptian poet, Biram Altunisi, whose poetry was chosen
because of its depth and his close relationship with
Sayyed Darwish, Murad's mentor and source of
inspiration. The music created is modern, with a
classical perspective. It crosses many boundaries,
defies categorization and brings sentiments of the past
in a contemporary musical setting.
The CD, on which Murad has been working for three years,
reflects many influences of musical genres and cultures,
which can be observed in the compositions and the multi
instrumentation. A Palestinian musician and a practising
artist, Murad is a member of the Sabreen group. He plays
the oud and percussion and has participated and
performed in many concerts and festivals locally and
internationally.
On the CD Murad plays the oud and percussion and is the
main vocalist. He is joined by others, including Basheer
Asadi on violin, Wafa Al-Zaghal on qanon, Shirley Smart
on cello and Oystein Bru Frantzen on electric and double
bass. Min Ba'd is an art piece nurtured by Sabreen
Association for Artistic Development, a non profit
organization dedicated to developing music and art in
Palestine.
